seriously you are falling for a propaganda campaign - literally no one is using that other social media app. they had a very clear PR/propaganda campaign on X to create this impression. if you disagree cite some data, b/c other than X haven't heard of anyone ever using it. they definitely created a false narrative this week...
More broadly, I agree that they are unlikely to become a large problem for TikTok because of TT’s network effects. However, they are an interesting case study of what happens when people opt into an algorithm that just confirms their belief systems.

Downloads aren’t users (DAU) though, as anyone who has ever worked on an app knows.
Sure they can get people checking it out and create a campaign to create this narrative, but unlikely to lead to usage because of issues with network effects. Also because everyone I know that uses TikTok is hopelessly addicted. LOL.

The claims about Larry Ellison changing the algorithm and banning anti-Israel accounts seem totally unfounded. It’s anti Trump/anti-Israel sentiment obviously, much of this is overt in x threads, especially accounts that have a clear anti-Israel posting history.
Is there any evidence the TikTok algo has actually changed? I’ve seen endless hyperbolic claims, but no real evidence, have you?

Oracle does own 15% of the new TikTok but all public info indicates that Ellison doesn't personally own it and Oracle is not the majority owner. But the facts and reality counter the "narrative" all of these accounts are mass posting to create an alternate "reality" on x.
Upscrolled was created by a Palestinian software developer...so all of the x accounts for example that regularly post mostly anti - Israel and anti-semitic content have been amplifying these messages...this is part of an overt and covert campaign to shape a narrative.
Time will tell of course, but I think we all have to be careful about possible manipulation attempts and I think that is what is occurring here....
