Sorry Evan, "the market" has spoken as far as what *actually* gets people to make bets on prediction markets: sports and major political events. I remain skeptical of hopes that prediction markets can actually bring predictive value to the world more broadly. The concept is fascinating and the hints of its potential efficacy likewise, but like everything in the current paradigm it's a question of whether the incentives toward benefit to humankind are sufficiently motivating.
